All Squirrel Leaders and Assistant Squirrel Leaders should hold the Squirrel Badge Award. It is important that before you start your role that all necessary AccessNI vetting procedures and Adult Application forms are completed - these can be found on the Squirrel website. Every new Leader starts their training with 'Getting Started' (organised at local level) and should be assigned a Training Advisor, this is someone who will support you through your training and they will help you in filling out the Squirrel Badge Award training booking form. A Training Advisor will also support experienced Leaders who need to do training or support them in the validation of prior learning or experience in the journey to receiving their Squirrel Badge Award. Validation criteria is available for both Squirrel specific modules and intersectional modules (these are Scout Association Woodbadge training modules held with Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer Scout Leaders and look at your role as an adult Leader within a Leadership team).
The validation process will support Leaders in putting their learning into practice in the Drey and acknowledge prior learning.
Squirrel Badge Award training material will be of support to SQLs/ASQLs attending training modules, Training Advisors, District Training Managers, District Commissioners and County Commissioners. This support material includes Squirrel Badge Award training 2017 - 2018 at NI Scout Centre Crawfordsburn booking form, an updated outline of Squirrel training and validation criteria for all modules both Squirrel specific and intersectional.
