Squirrels

New activity resources

At the recent NI Squirrel Association AGM we launched some new activity resources which we hope will be fun for you and your Squirrels to get involved in!!

We are delighted to continue our partnership with the RSPB by getting involved in their new Wild Challenge.  This initiative replaces the Wildlife Action Award - many Dreys took part in this and were awarded their Bronze certificates.  The new Challenge can be found here.  All you have to do is register your Drey, take part in your chosen activities and don't forget to record your actions online.  There is a vast array of support material to help you on the RSPB website.  Don't forget to let us know how many Squirrels, adults and family members took part in the activities - the RSPB is committed to getting kids up close to nature and their partnership with the Squirrel Association is a great way for them to reach lots of children!!

Safeguarding Support Material

An important aspect of being a Leader is child protection/safeguarding.  Leaders should attend any training sessions offered by their Scout Group, District or County.  The NI Squirrel Association has put together new reporting guidelines and information to support this aspect of your leadership role. Some Leaders may have used the Scout Association online safeguarding training BUT please be aware that the reporting procedure for Squirrel Leaders is different.
